How Does PPO Health Insurance Work?

Hello my name is Vic Schumacher. The company is HPE Financial Services where we're helping people everyday. I understand that you're trying to understand what a PPO is. First of all, PPO stands for preferred provider organization.

This is a type of organization where doctors and hospitals in the medical field come together and they work with people, individuals who come to them, who belong to this group; who belong to the PPO group. These doctors and hospitals also work in private sectors. They have their own prices for what they do if you don't belong to that particular network. But a PPO is nothing more than an organization; a group membership type of approach.

To go along with that, there's an HMO. An HMO stands for health maintenance organization. Insurance carriers will offer either an HMO or a PPO. With a HMO most of those providers desire to work on preventive maintenance types of approach. Compared to "I'm sick, I go to the hospital."; "I'm sick, I go to the doctor." Preventative maintenance tries to make sure that you don't get sick. Two different approaches; two different concepts.
